Stocks and Securities
A popular way of making charitable donations is through appreciated marketable securities instead of cash. By making a gift of stock, the donor receives an income tax deduction equal to the fair market value of the securities on the day the stock is sold. In addition, the donor will avoid paying capital gains tax, should he/she have sold the securities independently, thus gaining a double benefit.
Wills, Estates and Trusts
Remember Habitat for Humanity of Westchester in your will as a Bequest. There are several ways to accomplish this: by establishing gifts of charitable trusts and annuities, life insurance, IRA's, tangible personal property, closely held stock, or remainder interest in a home. We will work closely with your financial advisor to tailor your charitable gift according to your specifications. All of these contributions result in tax-savings for you and/or your heirs.
